Fun Fact! As part of a program to research a cure for HIV and Feline FIV. Scientists genetically modified the DNA of cat eggs by inserting the green fluorescent protein gene from a jellyfish alongside an antiviral gene from a rhesus macaque. Because this gene blocks viruses like FIV. The cats glow, when the modification is working. The glowing protein acts as a marker to show that the cats have the anti-FIV gene.
