Twenty-two years ago, when we brought home our first set of kittens, there were only 2 or 3 different insurance companies that offered pet insurance. When we adopted the second set of kittens and our dog, I looked into pet insurance. In the end, we decided that insurance was not affordable for 5 animals, especially with all the exclusions to coverage.
Now there are all kinds of companies offering pet insurance including some who offer insurance for your home and auto, for instance, Nationwide has a plan with 50%,70%, and 90% reimbursement for covered services. That’s the catch. Each company has its own limitations and exclusions, so it is important to read through the policy choices before you commit.
Having many choices does not necessarily mean there are many good choices. Here are some links to other articles that have ranked companies on their service. This is a good way to start looking for pet insurance, just be careful. You could end up spending money for little to no coverage.
