I asked the question can cats have twins? Well, in the general sense yes, and triplets and sextuplets. You get my drift. But can cats have identical twins? The answer is yes, but there's a catch. Unlike identical human twins, identifying two kittens can be challenging since their color pattern genes can get expressed differently in two felines even when their genes are identical. For example, a grey cat is really a muted black cat. So, one could be grey and the other black and still be identical. The only way to know if kittens are truly identical is to do a DNA test.
Mama had a litter of 6 kittens. 2 had points, 1 was black, and three were grey. My friend refers to the grey ones as the triplets. I'm pretty sure they are not because their faces don't actually look alike. But they were close enough that sometimes we had to do a butt check to know which one we were dealing with. The funny thing about them though is their personalities. They are all described by their adopters in the same way, as troublemakers. So
, you never know, they could be identical triples.
Clockwise from the top: Banjo and Ziggy, Neeko and Charcoal, and Loki and Earl. Loki and Earl were from the same litter, they were just caught at different ages.
